Letter to our Community

To all our friends and patients,

Our community has been through many challenges over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety while we provide the best possible care for you and your family.

Following the recent recommendations of the CDC, the Alabama Department of Public Health, and the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama, we are currently in the process of re-opening our office as soon as possible. We are working to put the required and necessary protective measures in place to keep you and our staff as safe as possible. We know that many of you have had appointments cancelled or put on hold over the last couple months and we appreciate your patience during a uniquely difficult time.

As we begin to re-open our office, please take a moment to read through some of the changes you will experience at your next appointment. These are protocols put in place by the CDC, the Alabama Department of Public Health, the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama and our staff to keep you and our staff safe during your visit:

We ask that you fill out all patient forms before your appointment. You can access all of our patient forms on our website or we would be happy to mail or email them to you.
When you arrive for your appointment, please remain in your car instead of entering the waiting room. Call or text the office at (205)979-8655 to let us know you are here and a member of the staff will come to your car, take your temperature, and ask a short series of questions. The waiting room will be closed and will no longer offer magazines, waters, or coffee to practice social distancing and eliminate items that are difficult to clean and disinfect.
No one may accompany you inside the office for your appointment unless the patient is a minor or disabled.

Once you enter the office, you will be directed to a cleaning station to sanitize your hands. From this point forward, we ask that you refrain from touching anything in the office.
We encourage patients to use the restroom before coming to our office. If a patient must use the restroom, the front restroom will be made available and will be thoroughly disinfected after each use.
Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean your appointment will take longer than usual or that you’re offered fewer options when scheduling your appointment.
We are purposefully scheduling greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in any common areas at one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. If you have an upcoming appointment scheduled, please be on the look out for a confirmation call from our team. If you need to make an appointment, please call our office at (205)979-8655 or contact us through our website at www.bhmsmiles.com

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Sincerely,

The Birmingham Smiles Dentistry Team
